On May 17, we will hold four pre-conference lectures/workshops, to start the cross-disciplinary conversations which will unfold over the next three days of the conference.
The speakers will be:
Peter Stockwell (Nottingham University)
Eve Sweetser (University of California, Berkeley)
Teenie Matlock (University of California, Merced)
Rena Sharon (University of British Columbia)
The talks will build bridges across various areas of study related to creative thought: embodied communication, gesture, sign language, literary creativity, and musical performance. Our speakers will present these areas of investigation in the context of cognition and language, and will also report on recent experimental research. There will be plenty of opportunity for questions, discussions, and follow-up conversations.
